See insightious.com/insights/the-indo-european-household and this article: folkism.substack.com/p/report-on-the-indo-european-household, that discussess a book and quotes the book:
From Google:The Proto-Indo-European house father mirrored the supreme god Dyēus Ph₂tḗr, holding absolute authority over his family just as the Sky Father ruled the cosmos. [1, 2]The Divine Sky Father
- Name Meaning: Dyēus Ph₂tḗr translates literally to "Shining Sky Father" or "Daylight Sky Father".
- Cosmic Role: He was the ancient head of the pantheon and associated with the bright, endless daylight sky.
- Family: He was paired with Mother Earth (Dʰéǵʰōm), uniting with her to bring rain and grow crops. He fathered other major deities, including the dawn goddess and the divine twin horsemen.
- Later Forms: His name evolved into Zeus in Greece, Jupiter in Rome, and Dyaus Pita in Vedic India. [3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]
The Earthly House Father
- Absolute Power: The mortal father was the master of his home. He held legal power over his wife, children, servants, and slaves.
- Hereditary Duty: This leadership role passed down from father to eldest son.
- Sacred Rituals: The earthly father had to maintain the sacred worship of his ancestors. Stopping these family prayers was considered a terrible failure. [2]
Mirroring Order
- Divine Reflection: Early Indo-European societies viewed the universe as a giant household.
- Order on Earth: The human father kept order, law, and religious duty in his home. This mortal role imitated the grand structure of the Sky Father maintaining order in the heavens. [2, 4]
Would you like to explore how this patriarchal structure shaped ancient Indo-European legal systems or myths?
This is what Mormonism is creating, a familial chain of belonging where the ancestors are worshiped, literally, as Gods; and its not about individual salvation but the chief, the patriarchal father exalting everyone through friendship and kinship blood ties. So it's not about selfishly seeking my "individual salvation" but Familial Theosis, and what I call Super-couples as the gods mentiined in D&C 132. This is more like the Indo-europeans household than Pauline male-brides. The Indo-European household was a microcosm of the Council of the Gods with Heavenly Father Michael-Adam as the ultimate the chieftain of his own household and his wives and the servants and children as his kingdom, his celestial domain. Compare this article on the proto-indo-europea religion compared to Mormonism. Also see this on the P.I.E. kinship system. Reading this article I can see how important Mormonism is mythologically in that the New Testament seeks to break down 20,000+ years of tribal evolution and kinship creation, where there's no longer respect for biological fatherhood and everyone instead joins the supernatural "spiritual family." This is why the New Testament says basically not to call anyone father and the Pauline-Jesus doesn't recognize his own biological family members and he says things like I come to bring division among biological family members; this is all extensions of the Pauline cult. Of course this is not the only strand in the New Testament as there is a pseudographic Paul that is pro-family with teachings like husbands love your wives and to be husband of one wife as an attempt to overcome Matthew 19:12 and 1st Corinthians 7. But the anti-familial tendencies are there as any honest historical scholar will admit. So that the best version of Christianity in my view is Mormonism because it restores the Indo-European chieftain and household, at least original Mormonism does."The House Father, king of his castle, might well have understood the sentiment behind “don’t tread on me” - this was the tacit rule among Indo-Europeans. ~~~ The Bronze Age steppe chieftain and the modern libertarian are very different animals, but there is a spiritual resemblance in the absolute jurisdiction of the basic social unit. And it is in this basic social unit - individual vs. family or clan - that modern Western society departs most fundamentally from the Indo-European household. For us, the part is built up into the whole; man comes before society. For archaic man, the whole comes before the part."
From this perspective, Mormonism is the restoration of Indo-European fatherhood. As Benjamin Johnson said in describing Joseph Smith's theology he learned directly from Joseph Smith himself: the whole point is that you as a man create a kingdom where your children are your kingdom as you become a God like Adam and Eve and just as we are children of our Heavenly Parents, our children we produce in the afterlife will be an extension of your kingdom. This was close to how the the Indo-European household was set up with the father as a divine figure.
Compare this imagery encapsulating the Indo-European father with Joseph Smith's theology where Adam did not sin but instead: Adam is the father of the human race and is the mighty Archangel Michael; and how Brigham Young said Joseph Smith told him that our Heavenly Father was Adam who was basically an enthroned King and was the father of us humans as the king of his household:
So I also realized that by Joseph Smith telling Benjamin Johnson that the purpose of becoming a God is your children are your kingdom, and Brigham saying Heavenly Father is Adam and we are his children and part of his Kingdom, that this mirrors the Indo-European family where the father was basically the god of the household.
